Insurance

We recommend the principles of pet health insurance to all our clients. Having your pet insured can help to avoid the distressing situation of having an ill pet at the same time as facing a large bill for veterinary fees.
Continual improvements in veterinary treatments available mean that we now offer services which were not previously available. These new treatments could be life saving or make a huge difference to your pets quality of life. Like in human medicine, these treatments can be costly.

For a monthly fee you can take out a policy that will cover your pet and give you peace of mind that should your pet suffer an illness or injury, they can get the treatment they need and you can get help towards the cost. We recommend starting a policy as soon as possible to ensure your pet is fully covered because if your pet suffers from an injury or illness before you insure it, this condition may be excluded from your policy.

When you are choosing an insurance company, there are a few things you should look out for:

* Be careful to check the amount of veterinary fee cover is adequate. Over time a single illness can cost many hundreds or thousands of pounds.

* Check that there is no time limit on how long you can claim for an injury or illness. Chronic conditions can last for the lifetime of your pet.

* Check that your pet will still be covered in later years when he or she needs it most. Also check that the premium in these later years will still represent good value.

When you bring a kitten or puppy along for its first vaccination, you will receive 6 weeks free insurance from Petplan, unless you are already covered by another insurance company. This free insurance puts you under no obligation, although you will receive follow up details of Pet Plan policies.
