Microchipping
Identification of your pet can be done by identity tags, tattoos or microchipping.
Microchipping your pet gives a permanent method of identification in case your pet goes missing. Most vets and kennels scan any stray animal brought to them. If a chip is found, a central register is contacted and the owner of the pet identified.

Microchipping involves injecting a chip under the skin usually between the shoulder blades. The injection can be a little uncomfortable but after the chip is put in, there is no ongoing discomfort.
Once chipped, your details are held on a central register. It is obviously extremely important you make them aware of any change in your contact details.
